Clubhouse floor and walls are built

A large load of lumber for the clubhouse was delivered by Home Hardware and Building Centre of Selkirk near the end of August. The weather was hot and sticky, which made working in the sun brutal at times. Despite the heat, we were blessed with just the right amount of volunteer help for each day of the build. We immediately began framing the clubhouse floor (see the plans PDF). Plywood subflooring came next, and then framing for the walls began. Because the north and south walls would be 10 feet high and 60 feet long, we raised them in 12 foot sections. The temporary wood fence positioned on the edge of the sun deck was removed just before the south wall was raised into place. Volunteers applied the first coat of paint just as soon as all the walls were up (protective exterior siding for all buildings would be the next priority after the clubhouse received it's occupancy permit). Once the plywood was cut from the door and window openings, I was able to begin adding the framing required for our windows. The plywood cutouts from the south-facing windows and door were temporarily tacked back into place to maintain access control for the pool. A brief delay in receiving our delivery of truss rafters gave our group of hard-working volunteers a much-needed rest!
