John Kundert's Naturist Legacy Park Scrapbook
Photo Gallery 34 (2013)
The first development project at Naturist Legacy Park in 2013 was a 30 AMP power upgrade for the park's campground. Our usual electrician was solidly booked in June, so we needed to push hard to get ready for him before then. Digging would be done by hand because of the large trees, trailers, buildings and other obstacles that made power trenching impossible. We began our work in early May before the frost was totally out of the ground. We would dig as deeply as we could, which would expose the still-frozen ground below to warmer air. By the next day we could dig a little deeper. We repeated this routine for several days until the desired depth was reached. Several other members helped as much as they could, with one member in particular showing up just about every day to dig alongside my wife and me. He and his wife graciously donated money to rent a jackhammer for one day in order to help us get through a particularly rocky stretch of ground. We were ready by mid-May for CJ Electric Ltd. of Beausejour, Manitoba to do their wiring. Our future plans included burying water pipes to each seasonal lot in these same trenches. With that in mind, I laid protective fence boards over all of the new wiring before backfilling commenced. This would allow us to safely reopen the trenches in a couple of years without worrying about damaging the wiring below.
